Abstract
An unstratified assemblage of worked flint was found spread evenly across Area B. Only single pits dated to the Neolithic, Early Bronze Age and Middle Bronze Age periods. The first substantial activity took place in the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age, with roundhouses, pits and ditches indicating small scale settlement in Area A. In Area B, a cremation cemetery was radiocarbon dated to the Late Bronze Age, among scatters of pits and post holes. Enclosed settlement proliferates in the Late Iron Age and Romano-British period, with a series of ditched enclosure, trackways and roundhouses in Area A and pits, post holes and ditches in Area B. Later evidence is limited to ditches of medieval, post-medieval and modern fields.
