Time Team - Dotton Mill, Dotton, Near Otterton, Devon - Archaeological Evaluation and Assessment of Results
Published: 2007-04-01
Subjects: Modern Industry, Post-Medieval Industry, Post-Medieval Structure
The evaluation did not reveal any structures or features which could be dated to the medieval period. The rebuilding of the mill in the 17th or 18th century, potentially on the site of the original mill, and the re-digging of the leat at a similar time, is likely to have either removed or masked any evidence of the medieval mill. The project did, however, identify the type of mill which had [...]
Time Team - Poulton Hall, Pulford, Cheshire - Archaeological Evaluation and Assessment of the Results
Published: 2007-04-01
Subjects: Medieval Religious Site, Medieval Structure
As a result of the Time Team evaluation, it appears likely that the Abbey was never built at Poulton Hall. The evaluation suggested potential alternative sites for the Abbey through the analysis of the historical mapping, aerial photography and topography of the area. The most likely location is in and around the area of the small chapel. The earliest phases of activity at the Poulton Hall [...]
ss Mendi - Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment
Published: 2007-04-01
Subjects: Desk-Based Assessment
Using the physical wreck as a starting point, this assessment has examined information relating to the loss of the Mendi, from both primary and secondary sources. An appraisal of what is known about the wreck itself has also been carried out, based on available survey data and information gathered from the diving community. The project has then considered the wreck of the Mendi in its wider [...]
Time Team - Moss Brow Farm, Warburton, Greater Manchester - Archaeological Evaluation and Assessment of the Results
Published: 2007-03-01
Subjects: Romano-British Agriculture
Following the excavation of a number of trenches, it became clear that there was no Romano-British fortlet at Warburton, and that the feature identified as ‘Punic’ defensive ditch was in fact the remains of an old hedgerow which had been removed in the last quarter of the 19th century. The evaluation revealed no evidence for settlement of any kind from the Romano-British period, but was able to [...]
Time Team - Chesham Bois House, 85 Bois Lane, Chesham Bois, Bucks - Archaeological Evaluation and Assessment of Results

Land West of Egley Road, Woking, Surrey - Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment
Published: 2007-03-01
Subjects: Desk-Based Assessment
Overall, a low-moderate potential for the existence and survival of archaeological deposits within the Site footprint and the Study Area has been identified. Blandford to Portland Gas Pipeline - Offshore Pipeline Route Archaeological Assessment
Published: 2007-03-01

This assessment has addressed the archaeology of only those elements of the scheme that lie below the high water mark. Secondary sources were also consulted, and [...]
Former Petrol Filling Station, Island Road, Sturry, Kent - Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment
Published: 2007-02-01
Subjects: Desk-Based Assessment
There is a moderate-high level of recorded archaeology within the Study Area. There is no known archaeology within the Site footprint. There is a high level of known ground intrusion at the Site which is likely to have destroyed, truncated or compromised any archaeological remains that may have existed at the Site. It is therefore considered that there is a very low potential for the survival of [...]
Greatness Mill, Mill Lane, Sevenoaks, Kent - Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment
Published: 2007-02-01
Subjects: Desk-Based Assessment
Given the prominence of the Grade II Listed mill within the modern and historic landscape, it is suggested that development at the Site be restricted in height in order to preserve the visual integrity of the mill within its historic environment. Furthermore it is recommended that the historic and spatial integrity of the mill complex be preserved as proposed by the retention of certain elements [...]

The excavation revealed several features of probable late Saxon date, including a number of aligned ditches (property boundaries), a dog burial within a pit and other smaller pits. Some of these features can be correlated with recorded documentary evidence. Medieval features include an east to west aligned ditch just to the north of the present day northern boundary wall of the former Redworth [...]
Time Team - Blacklands, Upper Row Farm, Laverton, Somerset - Assessment of the Results from the Archaeological Evaluation
Published: 2007-01-01
Subjects: Iron Age Agriculture, Iron Age Artefacts, Iron Age Settlement, Romano-British Artefacts, Romano-British Settlement
No features of conclusive Iron Age date were identified during the evaluation, but residual Iron Age and Early Romano-British material recovered from a discrete central area of the site suggests this formed the focus of early occupation. Most of the excavated features comprised ditches or robbed-out foundation trenches. Although most of the artefactual material recovered indicates a later 3rd-4th [...]
